The history of the Massachusetts QRIS

The Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) began developing a Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) in 2007 and piloted the QRIS in 2010. At the end of 2010, the Board of Early Education and Care approved the initial QRIS Standards. In 2016, EEC completed a validation study of the QRIS Standards, and in 2017, EEC issued draft revised QRIS Standards for public review and comment.
