Table of Contents
WHEREAS, all officials in state government must act with "unwavering integrity, absolute impartiality, and complete devotion to the public interest"; and
WHEREAS, it is fundamental to the effective operation of a democracy that the citizens have trust and confidence in their government and particularly those persons in positions of authority within government; and
WHEREAS, persons in authority in government have the ability to best lead by example and by holding themselves to the highest standards of competence and conduct; and
WHEREAS, all persons serving as members of the Cabinet and as Advisors and Senior Staff to the Governor serve at the Governor's pleasure without any vested right of employment and subject to such conditions of employment as the Governor may lawfully impose;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mitt Romney, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Supreme Executive Magistrate under the Constitution, Part 2, c. 2, § I, Art. I, do hereby order that:
Section 1: No person serving as Chief of Commerce and Labor, Chief of Commonwealth Development, member of the Cabinet, Education Advisor to the Governor or in a Senior Staff position in the Governor's Office shall remain in the employment of the Governor if any immediate family member of that person is registered as a lobbyist or employed by a registered lobbyist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Section 2: This Executive Order shall continue in effect until amended, superseded or revoked by subsequent Executive Order.
