Table of Contents
WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 357 reiterated the existence of a state of emergency in this Commonwealth resulting from the unacceptable frequency and severity of domestic violence: and
WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 357 reestablished an Advisory Commission on Domestic Violence to make recommendations to the Governor addressing this state of emergency; and
WHEREAS, there remains a need to coordinate and integrate policy on all aspects of domestic violence at the highest levels of state government, and to broaden the scope of the Commission's inquiry to include the response of the health, human services, educational, business, legal, and law enforcement communities;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mitt Romney, Governor of the Commonwealth, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Supreme Executive Magistrate, Part 2, c. 2, § I, Art. I, do hereby amend Executive Order No. 357 as follows:
Section 1. The second sentence of Section 1 of Executive Order 357 shall be stricken and in its place the following sentences shall be substituted:
It shall be the responsibility of the Commission to make recommendations to the Secretary of the Executive Office of Public Safety on all aspects of the domestic violence crisis in the commonwealth. The Secretary shall report the Commission's recommendations to the Governor. To maximize its capability of realizing its mission, the Commission shall be located in the Executive Office of Public Safety. The Commission shall:
