Regulation  211 CMR 71.00: Medical supplement insurance to facilitate the implementation of MGL c. 176K and section 1882 of the Federal Social Security Act

211 CMR 71.00 provides for the implementation of M.G.L. c. 176K and the federal Social Security Act § 1882; provides for the reasonable standardization and simplification of the terms, benefits, organization and format of Medicare Supplement Insurance Policies; to facilitate public understanding and comparison of such Policies; to ensure that Policies are written in an easily understood manner; provides for the full disclosure of Policy contents; eliminates provisions contained in such Policies which may be misleading or confusing in connection with the purchase of such Policies or with the settlement of claims; prevents the sale of coverage which does not in fact complement Medicare; ensures fair marketing; prevents deceptive sales practices; provides for full disclosure in the sale of accident and sickness insurance coverage to persons eligible for Medicare; and facilitates review of rates for Medicare Supplement Insurance.
