Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) Dashboard

The Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) dashboard reports on substance misuse outcomes, harm reduction services, and BSAS program enrollments – providing a comprehensive view of substance misuse across the state.

The dashboard is updated every six months, with the most recent update in May 2025. This update includes the latest data (see Data updated through section for details) and the following key enhancements to the Community Profile:

  • The Overview tab features a redesigned Substance-Related Continuum of Care section with new metrics across intervention, treatment, and community support services, broken out by community-based and legal-system involved services.
  • The ER Visits tab has been enhanced with new metrics and views for analyzing ER visit data by race/ethnicity, age, sex, and more.
  • The Services tab has been redesigned with two new views: Accessibility to BSAS-Licensed Providers, showing which areas across the state fall within different travel times to BSAS-licensed providers; and Individuals Who Received Buprenorphine Prescriptions, providing demographic trend analysis by age and gender.
  • The Data to Action tab features a new view showing the estimated percentage of individuals with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) receiving buprenorphine or methadone, offering insight into the scale of additional action that may be needed.
  • The ER Visits and Services tabs now include statewide views in addition to the city/town and county levels.

About this dashboard

The dashboard is comprised of two main pages: the Community Profile page, and the Data on BSAS Enrollments page.

The Community Profile provides city/town, county, and state level snapshots of substance-related deaths, emergency events, and services, while the BSAS Enrollments page reports on individuals who received services for substance use disorders, broken out by geography, fiscal years, and demographic characteristics.

Both pages can be accessed from the dashboard’s initial Home Screen. After accessing either page, there will be a navigation menu in the upper left of the dashboard allowing for further exploration of the dashboard.

We highly encourage users to review the Dashboard Overview and Enrollments Page Video Tutorial and Community Profile Page Video Tutorial where they can learn more about using the dashboard.

Users are also encouraged to review Data to Action: Leveraging the BSAS Dashboard (& Other Resources) for Community Impact (PDF l (DOCX) for guidance on effectively utilizing data from the dashboard. This guide offers insights on determining key performance indicators (KPIs), interpreting common health statistics, and leveraging data for decision-making

If your analysis results in too many suppressed cells, consider changing your selections, expanding your time period, and/or removing some of the filters.

The Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) collects and organizes data from new services. The funding and management of some of these services might be transferred to other state agencies, following which the admission data may no longer be submitted to BSAS.
