Proportion of Population with Chronic Diseases and Risk Behavior (BRFSS) |
This dataset includes model-generated estimates of the percentage of Massachusetts adults with some chronic diseases or risk behavior. Percentages are given for specific counties and towns. Values were estimated using information from multiple datasets including Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) data (2012 – 2014) and census data. |

Chronic Disease Hospitalizations |
Massachusetts acute care facilities licensed as hospitals by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health are required to submit data on all hospitalizations to the Massachusetts Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) annually. These data contain information on each patient, such as the patient's age, sex, race, the health conditions for which they received treatment, and other aspects of their treatment. These data are initially collected by hospitals for billing purposes, but contain information useful for public health purposes. Each case record represents a single hospitalization, emergency department visit, or outpatient observation visit. For example, if a person is hospitalized two times in a year, there will be two case records for that patient in the dataset. Data include Massachusetts and out-of-state residents. |

Epinephrine Administration in Schools |
This dataset shows the number of times epinephrine was administered in school for the emergency treatment of potentially life-threatening allergic reactions. It describes the circumstances of those events and the characteristics of the individuals given epinephrine. |

Environmental Hospitalizations |
Hospitalization data are collected by the Massachusetts Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) from all 74 Massachusetts acute care hospitals and satellite emergency facilities. MDPH obtains information on Massachusetts residents who are discharged as inpatients (more than 23 hour hospital stay), outpatients (less than 24 hours hospital stay), and through emergency department (ED) visits data annually from CHIA. Hospitalization data includes information on patient characteristics and the medical treatment they received. |
