Reset the password for a MyMassGov account

See instructions to follow if you've forgotten or want to reset the password for your MyMassGov account.

  1. Go to MyMassGov
  2. Click on the application you want and log in
  3. When you get to the log in screen where you would normally enter your email and password, click on the ‘Forgot password’ link
  4. At the MyMassGov screen, select the ‘Forgot password’ link
  5. On the next screen, enter your email address                 
  6. Select ‘SEND VERIFICATION CODE'
  7. Check your email for a message containing a verification code.  If you don’t see it in your inbox, be sure to check your spam folder. Also check to make sure that you typed in your email address correctly.
  8. Enter the code you received
  9. Select ‘VERIFY'

    NOTEOnce a code is sent, it is good for 5 minutes. If you do not enter it within that timeframe, you will need to click on the ‘Send new code’ link to receive another code for verification. 
  10. Enter a new password that meets all of these requirements:
    1. Must be between 8 and 64 characters

    2. Must meet at least three of the following requirements:

      i. Contain a special character (e.g., @ # $ % ^ & *)

      ii. Contain a number

      iii. Contain an uppercase character

      iv. Contain a lowercase character

  11. Re-enter your password to confirm it 

  12. Click ‘CONTINUE’ 

You will be logged in and can continue to your benefits application. Use the new password you just created the next time you log in.
