Executive Order  No. 209: Declaring a state of emergency in the City of Lynn following a fire

WHEREAS, on November 28, 1981, a fire in the city of Lynn resulted in a conflagration, and,

WHEREAS, this conflagration has resulted in an emergency that threatens the lives and safety of the citizens of Lynn, and

WHEREAS, this conflagration has resulted in grievous economic damage to industry, business, private and public property, and

WHEREAS, extraordinary assistance is required to overcome the damages and losses caused thereby:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Edward J. King, Governor of the Commonwealth, acting under the provisions of G.L. Chapter 33, appendix, as amended, and chapter 639, acts of 1950, as amended, and all other authority conferred upon me by law, do hereby declare a state of emergency exists in the city of Lynn and authorize all appropriate state programs be applied to alleviate the damages, losses and suffering from this conflagration. In addition, I intend to request all appropriate federal assistance.

Given at the executive chamber in Boston this 28th day of November in the year of our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and eighty-one, and of the Independence of the United States, the two hundredth and sixth.
