Executive Order  No. 219: Abolishing the Bay State Skills Commission and transferring its remaining functions and responsibilities to the Bay State Skills Corporation

WHEREAS, the Bay State Skills Commission was created in 1980 expressly to encourage the development and increased accessibility of programs of skills training and education consistent with employment need; and

WHEREAS, said Commission was created by Executive Order No. 185, which was later amended by Executive Order No. 192; and

WHEREAS, the Bay State Skills Corporation was recently created pursuant to Section 192 of Chapter 351 of the Acts of 1981, to serve as the permanent successor- in-interest of said Commission; and

WHEREAS, the Chairman or the Commission has recommended the abolition of said Commission and the transfer of its remaining functions and responsibilities to the Bay State Skills Corporation,

NOW, THEREFORE, I, EDWARD J. KING, Governor of the Commonwealth, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and statutes of the Commonwealth, do hereby order as follows:

  1. Executive Order No. 185 hereby revoked.
  2. Executive Order No. 192 is hereby revoked.
  3. Such function and responsibilities of the Commission as are necessary and appropriate to conclude the affairs of said Commission are hereby transferred to the Bay State Skills Corporation.

Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston this 11th day of June in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eighty-two and of the Independence of the United States of America two hundred and six.
