In this video, we will go over how to log into DTA Connect and how to change your address.
Updating your information on DTA Connect can help you make the changes you need, without having to call or visit DTA.
Let's head to DTA Connect.com.
If you have an existing DTA Connect account click the log in button at the top right corner of your browser. You may also log into your account using the DTA Connect mobile app.
If you do not already have an online account, one must be created before logging in.
After you log in to DTA Connect you will be taken to the homepage.
Press My Info for a summary and to update your address.
Update your residential address by pressing the button that says edit in the Address section of the My Info tab.
Now update your residential address. Be sure to complete this page as accurately and as completely as possible before you press continue.
Start by telling DTA if your household is homeless, by answering yes or no. Enter the new street address and apartment number if applicable. Don't forget the zip code and the city.
Select the most accurate type of housing from the following options:
- Choose Private housing if you rent or own your own home.
- Choose Public, if you live in public housing, you receive a housing subsidy or you live in an affordable or low-cost housing unit.
- Choose other if you are in another living situation such as a group home, a shelter or a drug and alcohol treatment center.
If this new address is also your mailing address select yes.
If you would like to get your mail at a different address or PO box, select No.
If your residential address is not the same as your mailing address, you will be able to enter your mailing address now.
Press continue to save your changes.
When you update your address with DTA you will also need to provide proof of your new shelter expenses and utility costs. Giving DTA these proofs will help to make sure you get the most SNAP you are eligible for.
First, select what type of Shelter expenses you pay. For example, if home insurance, taxes and/or condo fee are included in your mortgage, do not list those items separately. Select all that apply and then click continue. Your benefits may go down if you do not complete this section and provide proof.
Next, let DTA know if you are living in subsidized or affordable housing, or receive a voucher to help pay your rent, by selecting yes. Then enter how much you pay for each expense. Please only report the amount that your DTA household is responsible for paying. Make sure to select how often you pay this amount.
Click the continue button once completed.
Select all utility costs that your DTA household is responsible for paying and press the button that says submit.
Some examples of utility costs include:
- Heat,
- Electricity for an air conditioner,
- Electricity or Gas, not used for heating or cooling,
- Water,
- Garbage or trash collection,
- or Phone service.
Your benefits may go down if you do not complete this section and provide proof.
After clicking submit, you will be returned to the home page.
If you need to change your mailing address without changing your residential address, you can press the button that says edit within the Mailing Address section of the "My info" tab. Be sure to submit verification of your new shelter and utility costs. These costs can be verified by submitting documents such as:
- a rent receipt,
- a lease agreement,
- a mortgage Statement,
- a letter from your landlord or roommate, or
- a bill for heat, air conditioning, electricity, gas, or phone.
If you do not submit verification of these costs,
you may see a change in your SNAP benefit amount.
If you are having a hard time getting proof of your expenses you can give DTA permission to speak with your landlord, roommate or someone else who can prove
the costs.
If there is no one DTA can speak with, you can also write a signed statement telling us why you cannot get proof and how much your expenses are.
If you are having issues with DTA Connect, email dtaapphelpdesk@mass.gov. Be sure to include:
- your name,
- your Agency ID,
- your date of birth,
- the email you used to log in,
- and the details about the issue you are experiencing.
