Whereas, on December 7, 1960, Executive Order No. 36 was issued for the purpose of making the Commonwealth and its political subdivisions temporarily eligible for federal contributions for Civil Defense personnel and administrative expenses; and

Whereas, the federal government has terminated said temporary eligibility effective April 25, 1961; and

Whereas, said Executive Order No. 36 therefore no longer serves any useful purpose:

Now, therefore, I John A. Volpe, Governor of the Commonwealth, do hereby issue this Order pursuant to authority conferred upon me by Acts of 1950, c. 639, as amended.

Executive Order No. 36, issued December 7, 1960, as amended by Executive Order No. 38, issued March 20, 1961, is hereby terminated, effective this date, provided, however, that said termination shall not affect the validity of any expenditure heretofore made, or any obligation heretofore incurred, pursuant to said Executive Order No. 36, as amended, or in connection with the participation, as authorized by said Executive Order, by the Commonwealth and its political subdivisions in the federal contributions program under Public Law 85-606, from January 1, 1961, to the effective date of this order.

Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston this first day of May in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and sixty-one and of the Independence of the United States of America, the one hundred and eighty fifth.
