I, Maurice J. Tobin, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, acting under the provisions of the Acts of 1941, Chapter 719, as amended by Acts of 1943, Chapter 3 of the Acts of 1942, Chapter 13, Sections 2 and 3, and all other authority vested in me do hereby issue this order:
By reason of the existing extreme fire hazards, all sections of the forests and woodlands of the Commonwealth within the counties of Plymouth, Bristol, Barnstable and Dukes are hereby closed, commencing at 12:01 A.M., April 21, 1946, to all persons except the owners or tenants of such forests and woodlands and their agents or employees, or persons holding written permission from any such owner or tenant to enter thereon for any lawful purposes.
I hereby suspend the opening or continuance of any or all open seasons established by law, and proclaim a closed season on any or all birds, fish or mammals, and prohibit hunting, trapping, and fishing, and the possession of firearms on property of another in the woodlands in said counties of Plymouth, Bristol, Barnstable and Dukes.
Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston, this twentieth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and forty-six, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the one hundred and seventieth.
