Executive Order  No. 180: State office white paper recycling program

Table of Contents

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth supports and encourages efforts to promote responsible solid waste management, including the recycling of paper, and

WHEREAS, the Corporation for a Cleaner Commonwealth has proposed the establishment of a State Office White Paper Recycling Program, to recycle high- grade office paper, and

WHEREAS, the objectives of said program are to use presently wasted paper resources by a re-manufacturing process, and to create new business opportunities in the Commonwealth which will involve and employ handicapped and economically disadvantaged individuals, and

WHEREAS, said program will begin in several state office buildings in Boston, to develop a model that may be expanded in the future,

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Edward J. King, Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Supreme Executive Magistrate of the Commonwealth, do hereby order and direct all secretariats, offices, departments, boards, commissions, councils or other agencies of the executive department under my jurisdiction and the officers, members and employees thereof to cooperate as necessary and appropriate to effect the operational planning for and the implementation of the State Office White Paper Recycling Program.

Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston this twenty-eighth day of July, in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eighty and of the independence of America, two-hundred and five.
