Executive Order  No. 198: Board of Conciliation and Arbitration

WHEREAS, it has been declared to be the public policy of this Commonwealth that the best interests of the people are served by the prevention or prompt settlement of labor disputes; and

WHEREAS, the Department called the Board of Conciliation and Arbitration was established under section 235 of Chapter 351 of the Acts of 1981 to further this objective; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Conciliation and Arbitration is designated to be within the executive office of Labor and Consumer Affairs in said section 235; and

WHEREAS, there presently does not exist an executive office of Labor and Consumer Affairs;

NOW, THEREFORE, I Edward J. King, Governor of the Common- wealth, by virtue of the authority vested in me by section two of Chapter Thirty of the General Laws, do hereby order as follows:

  1. The Department called the Board of Conciliation and Arbitration is hereby designated to be within the Executive Office of Manpower Affairs, but not subject to the jurisdiction thereof.
  2. This order shall take effect immediately.

Given at the Executive Chamber in Boston this 24th day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eighty-one and of the Independence of the United States of America two hundred and six.
