In addition to reviewing the activities of state government agencies, the Office of the State Auditor also audits housing and independent authorities. While these entities are public organizations that generally receive public funds, their governance structure provides them with greater operational independence. In addition to housing, authorities also provide services related to healthcare, transportation, and clean energy, among others. These audits review how well these entities use public funds to meet their specialized missions.
